Dr. Prashant Pratap is a litigation lawyer based in New Delhi, practising before the Supreme Court of India, the High Court of Delhi, and the National Company Law Tribunal and National Company Law Appellate Tribunal.
His work is in corporate, commercial, insolvency and financial law — insolvency and restructuring under the IBC, shareholder and company law disputes, banking and debt enforcement, and domestic and international arbitration.
Before establishing his independent practice, Dr. Pratap trained at the Chambers of Mr. Shekhar Naphade, Senior Advocate, where he assisted the learned Senior Counsel before the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India in SEBI v. Sahara, in Arun Dev Upadhyaya v. Integrated Sales Service Ltd. concerning the enforcement of a foreign arbitral award, and in constitutional matters including the challenge to the EWS reservation in Janhit Abhiyan v. Union of India and the proceedings concerning Article 370.
A different path to the Bar
Dr. Pratap qualified and practised in dentistry before coming to the law. The training left him with a methodical, evidence-first approach to a brief, and a practical facility with matters that turn on technical or scientific material.
Beyond the Bar
An avid golfer and a member of the Indian Golf Union, Dr. Pratap spends his weekend mornings on the course. He also retains a longstanding interest in finance and technology.
